Sherlock Holmes, a review.

I cannot make bricks without clay (*sniggers*, just HAD to use it), and therefore, before I draw a conclusion, behold the evidences...

With Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's masterpiece as a comparison, my evaluation would be as follows:

Character presentation: fail (main characters anyway)

Sherlock Holmes is supposed to be impeccably neat (in terms of dressing).
He does NOT I repeat, does NOT get himself into humiliating situations(i.e. waking up handcuffed in his birthday suit). Not that I'm complaining. After all, what movie is complete without the main character embarrassing himself one way or the other?
His room is NOT supposed to be MESSY. Cluttered and full of things yes, but NOT a mess. An ORGANIZED mess if you must.
Sherlock is supposed to be tall. Nearly six feet(nearly).

And on to Dr. Watson
He's too useful. In the book, he mostly observes whereas in the movie,he is active in Holmes' cases .
They've also warped his personality; the timid man depicted in the book, HAH! Not in the movie (not that THAT's a bad thing really)
Also, having been previously injured in the war, he shouldn't be able to fight as he did.
His analyzing abilities only catches up to that of Holmes' towards the end of "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes" Timeline kapusshhhte.
In the book, he'd never have met is wife if it was for Sherlock; she acquired his assistance in a particular case involving a treasure of gems (read it up in The Sign of Four). Ah well, I suppose it's to spice things up a bit.

Now on to the good parts.

Humour: infinity out of 10
Very rich in funny bits. LOVE it. Now THAT's a producer director (oh I dont't know! person-in-charge anyway) with a marvelous sense of humour.
Will not elaborate on this (oh how it pains me, must.. control..self..resist...urge to type.....to not...spoil..suspense.....) , except for one part which most ppl don't seem to get. Long story short, WATCH the MOVIE.

The part which most ppl don't seem to get;
Looking at the grave, Sherlock says "And on the Third day".
The third day (easter day) is the day Jesus rose from the grave.
Get it now???
p.s. You need to watch the movie 1st or your reaction is a most likely 'HUH?'
Anyway, do remember this fact for when you reach that part.
And remember to laugh. There was an abysmal lack of laughter at this part (when I was watching it at the cinema anyway).

Settings: jaw dropping
Really gives you the authentic 19th century London feel.

Storyline and style: Awesome. Just Awesome.
Crime solving style accurate to that of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's. Suspense build up, and the final explanation for EVERYTHING at the end.

So what CAN we draw from this?
Elementary my dear Watson (too bad this line wasn't in the movie, though many of Holmes' famous sayings are).

It is a MUST WATCH.

Crime is common, logic is rare. Therefore it is upon the logic rather than upon the crime that you should dwell.
Not watching the Movie should be made a crime.

WATCH THE MOVIE!
